Daniel I. Rosen passed away on September 5, 2022 of complications from a recent illness. Born on June 24, 1951 in New Britain, CT, the eldest of three children of Ellsworth and Leonora Rosen, Dan was a loving husband, brother, son and uncle to his wife and family. He grew up in Hartford, CT, Baltimore, MD and Brookline, MA, spending summers in his youth at his beloved Wellfleet on Cape Cod.
He graduated with a Bachelor's and Master’s degrees in Electrical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, being a forerunner in the burgeoning computer software field of the 1970s. His software skills were initially demonstrated at Transcomm Data Systems in Pittsburgh, where he was the key designer of the TOLAS software package used for order and inventory systems internationally. His recognized talent for technology allowed him executive positions in Colorado and New Jersey, ultimately leading to him forming Promark, a successful computer performance measurement firm, based in New Jersey, which was purchased by Compuware in 1997. The formation of DRD Systems later encompassed his most recent product design, Video ReDo, a graphic software editor in global use today.
He was a devoted husband to Diana Kostelac Rosen whom he married on October 12, 1980. After living and working in Pittsburgh, San Francisco, and Denver, they ultimately settled in Mendham, NJ. In addition to a lifelong love of technology, he enjoyed all types of music, theater, cooking, politics and golf. He is survived by his wife Diana, his father Ellsworth Rosen, sisters Joy and Susan, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law J.W. Carney, Dan Rorabaugh, Rosemary and Leonard Zir and Thomas and Debra Kostelac, and many nieces and a nephew. His sweetness, dry humor and kindness will be missed by all.
