Alan Henry Robbins passed away on January 4, 2025, at his residence in Chestnut Hill. Predeceased by his beloved son, Kenny Robbins; Alan is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marilyn Robbins; daughter, Jill Robbins; son-in-law, Evan Silver; daughter-in-law, Shari Robbins; and granddaughters, Laci and Callie Robbins and Dylan Silver.
Born in Boston and raised in Newton, Alan graduated Newton High School in 1956 before attending The University of Pennsylvania. He graduated third in his class at Boston College Law School in 1963 and joined the law firm of Morrison, Mahoney & Miller the following year, later becoming a senior partner. Alan handled non-medical professional liability work with an emphasis in legal malpractice claims. He had a strong reputation within the legal community for his acumen, high sense of ethics and morality and just for being a “good guy”. He won his cases through intelligence, hard work and attention to detail. Universally known to be a man of integrity, Alan worked hard to care for others without seeking honor or reward. He took much joy in providing for his family, friends, and colleagues and is the rare person whom absolutely no one has a bad word to say about; everyone fortunate enough to have known him thinks of him with nothing but affection and respect.
A little-known fact about Alan is that he was the first live birth in the USA to a mother with diabetes. His parents, Anne and David Rabinovitz, suffered the stillbirth of a daughter, but were later thrilled to welcome their only son on May 11, 1938. As a baby, Alan was studied by doctors internationally and was written up in several medical journals.
Alan and Marilyn raised their children in Framingham and spent their later years in Ashland, Massachusetts and Naples, Florida. Handy and resourceful, Alan could build or fix just about anything. He loved to play golf, attend lectures and discussion groups, travel and take photographs. His family will miss him forever.
Funeral will take place on Thursday January 9 at 1:00 pm at Sharon Memorial Park, with Shiva immediately following at the home of Jill Robbins and Evan Silver.
