Evie graduated from Riverside High School in 1968. She accepted Christ early in life. On April 1, 1973, she became a member of Rock of Faith Baptist Church, Milwaukee, WI, where she held many roles, including Pianist.
Evie worked as a grocery store manager for many years, managing and co-owner of several stores within the community. In 1995 she caught the entrepreneur bug and opened Evie’s Day Care. The families she provided services for knew her as a kind soul who was always willing to cheer kids up with music, dancing, and a lot of hugs.
In 1998 she received her Independent Pastorship, where she governed hundreds of individuals in their walk with Christ. She believed in God wholeheartedly and that God has a plan for everyone’s life. Do good by people and always put God first.
Evie loved her family. She was a loving daughter, dedicated sister, awe-inspiring mother, astonishing grandmother, and a remarkable great-grandmother. She enjoyed life and was crazy in love with her grandchildren/great-grandchildren.
Evie Kathryn Thompson was born to eternal life on August 07, 2023, after a long battle with metastatic breast cancer. It would be wrong to say that Evie lost her battle because she never stopped fighting. No matter how sick she was, she was always determined. When anyone else would have broken, Evie stayed strong. Through her, we know what resilience and perseverance truly look like. There was no quit in Evie. Just because she is no longer here doesn’t mean she lost her fight.
She was preceded in death by Her father, Ulysses Thompson, her mother, Willie Ruth Thompson, and her sister, Claudia Ruth Sandles. She leaves to cherish so many beautiful memories with her family; four children, Michelle A. Jones (Brian T. Jones), Charita C. Thompson, Nicole L. Thompson (Michael Smith), Cleve A. Thompson (Cher-Rhonda Woodard-Lynk), ten Grandchildren, Beaonca M. Thompson (Robert Smith), Brandon A. Thompson, Micayla A. Hines (Karon Hines), Miya Coulter-Thompson, Isaiah W.
