Charlotte L. Tubbs

Charlotte L. Tubbs, 84, of Milwaukee, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on November 1, 2024. Born in Pleasant Ridge, Beetown Township, Grant County, Wisconsin, Charlotte was a woman of deep faith, independence, and unwavering love for her family and community.

She is survived by her sons, Tyrone Tubbs, Sr. and Stephen “Tony” Tubbs; grandson Tyrone Tubbs, Jr.;daughter-in-law Cheryl Legohn-Tubbs; mother-in-law Cynthia Legohn; niece by marriage, Jasmine Rodriguez; cousins Jeffrey Williams, Angela Jones, and Oliver Jones. Extended family members Kina Borges, Madeline “Molly” Borges, Roberto Borges, Leonard Cratic, Hope DeVougas, Doris Ellison, Daisy Franks, Lacarter Franks, Tracy Franks, Aaliyah Hagens, Christopher Hagens, Luke Hagens, Pamela Hagens, Samuel Hagens, Shirley Lotten, Emmanuel Metcalf, Gaile Points-Thomas, Thomas Points, Jr., and a host of cherished friends.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Hilda Green; former husband, Charles Tubbs, Jr.; six aunts, Dorothy, Hazel, Mildred, Myrtle, and Virginia Green; and eight uncles, Charles Wesley, Clarence, Donnivon, Gordon, Lawrence, Leonard, and Ralph Green, and Morgan Williams; eight cousins, Delbert Ayers, Dennis Ayers, Dwight Ayers, Sr., Dwight Ayers, Jr., Elouise Ayers, Ronald Ayers, Rosalin Ayers, and LaTeena Williams Jones. Extended family members Jesse Franks, Theresa Hughes, Wanda Legohn Rodriguez, Malcolm Legohn, Sr., Malcolm Legohn, Jr., Herbert Lotten, Fannie Mae Lotten-Points, Arnold Points, Fannie Points, and Thomas Points, Sr.

Charlotte graduated from North Division High School and attended Milwaukee Area Technical College. She built a fulfilling career as a nurse’s aide and part-time school bus driver, demonstrating her dedication to service and hard work. She truly believed in Jesus Christ and actively supported numerous local and national charities, including Toys for Tots, the Wisconsin Humane Society, Wounded Warriors, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Special Olympics, and Guide Dogs for the Blind. Charlotte’s dream in life was to find happiness, love, and peace of mind while ensuring her sons valued hard work and education and lived fulfilling lives. She shared her wisdom through timeless sayings: “You know right from wrong,” “Do it right the first time,” “Mind your own business,” and “Keep your business to yourself.”

Charlotte loved feeding the birds in her yard. She also had a green thumb and took immense pride in her garden; her yard was a labor of love. She was a long-time bowler, participating in tournaments outside Milwaukee, and an avid sports fan, cheering for the Golden Eagles, Badgers, Bucks, Brewers, and Packers. She loved sending and receiving cards for every occasion—birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, or missing you. Charlotte’s culinary favorites included cornbread casserole, chicken dumplings, pot roast, turnip greens, peach cobbler, and German chocolate cake.

Charlotte’s life was a testament to love, resilience, and generosity. She leaves behind a legacy of faith,kindness, and treasured memories. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. The Tubbs Family deeply appreciates the many acts of kindness shown during this difficult time.
