My Name is Joe Diozzi   I was stationed with Tony at Mitchel AFB in Hempstead back in 1954. He was my mentor. I just knew that he was born to serve the Lord. We often went to dinner together and a movie. He was one of the nicest persons I have ever known. I'm sorry that I lost touch with him.  How lucky I was to have him as a friend and confidant. I am Fr Jeffery Jambon, I am sorry I am posting this SOOO late, 2 years later after Father Serio's passing. I didn't know about this webpage... I did attend his funeral in New York... 

I was an altar boy for Fr Serio at OLPS for all my years of grade school and high school. And thanks to his priestly example - I too have followed him in becoming a priest! thanks to him I understood love for the Holy Eucharist and love for the Blessed Virgin Mary. He taught us to love the Traditional Catholic Faith fearlessly. I am forever grateful to him for this priestly mentor and example.

OLPS, Fr. Serio (Anthony), May 2, 1930 - July 26, 2018...Bronx, New York.....RIP!!!  

From St. Mary Magdalen School, my mama was his 1st sick call when he got to our parish.  He had to borrow Father Carricos car as he had just arrived.  I will never forget him hugging me (7 yrs. old) with tears in his eyes, saying now look you have to have alot of courage.  I always loved Fr. Serio, I kept in touch with him over the years and I will miss his words of wisdom.  We hated to see him leave St Mary Magdalen parish.  You will always hold a special link to my Mama and a special place in my heart.

There are so many memories from OLPS, that I don't know where to begin. Thank you for instilling the love of my faith within in me. And because of you, Silent Night will always be my favorite Christmas song.

I feel blessed to have know Father Anthony. I attended OLPS as a child and have so many memories! My favorite is going to visit his Christmas tree each year. He was there for my baptism, first communion and confirmation. He touched so many lives and I am so very glad one of them was mine. Prayers for your loss and praise for the life he lead and his returning to our Father at the end of it.

Regardless of the circumstances, the death of a family member is a time of much sadness and deep pain.  My deepest condolences on the death of your uncle, Father Anthony Serio.  He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.  You are in my thoughts and prayers during these difficult days.

Thank you Father Anthony for the genuine kindness you showed to our daughters, husband and myself through our years at Our Lady Prompt Succor Catholic School. You always asked us if we were of Asian descent because of our eyes. lol I’ll never forget when you stopped me to introduce me to Archbishop Shulte and show him my eyes. lol These memories make me smile. You will always be remembered by our family with much fondness.

Dear Uncle Anthony,  

It was December 1967. You were being ordained a priest in Rome. I wanted so badly to go but making the trip was not possible. You did marry me that June in front of the entire family. It was such a proud day for everyone but especially for me. 

So many years have passed since then. You were passionate about your life. You loved music and books and the life you chose. Your stories were always interesting and funny. Many times they were memories of the family and always included your beloved Mama.

A fond memory was when we visited you in Metairie. You cooked for us. Crabs New Orleans style!. You loved New Orleans and all your parishioners.

I'm happy you are together with Grandma and Grandpa and all your siblings. Please kiss my Mother for me and tell her I miss her so much and think of her everyday. I know there is a big table in Heaven with you all there laughing like you always did.  My love and gratitude for all the wonderful memories.

I have known Fr. Anthony for about 35 years! What a good soul! In recent years I had the joy of cooking for him! He sure enjoyed good food! He was Italian through and through! After he ate dinner he would call me and tell me how much he enjoyed his dinner and how well it was seasoned and sometimes he would add that my cooking was the closest to his Mother’s cooking that he had ever tasted! To me that was the highest compliment!  We were sad to see him move from Metairie back to New York, only because we would miss him! And miss him we did!!! Rest In Peace, Fr. Anthony!

Father Anthony you inspired me in so many ways,I can remenber when we would go and get pizza at the  mall, the laughter and the fun we had Through you I meet so many good priest .Rita and I will never forget the joy that we had with you You were a special person  and a holy priest.You were their for so many people .We knew you for so long even when you were at Star of Sea  and we will never forget you Pray for us  and Rest In Peace my friend


 Father Anthony changed my life forever he is the most amazing man and a Holy priest of God. Those of you who don’t know me my name is Gregory and I was blessed to be father‘s helper when he lived in Metairie before returning to New York.Even though I only knew father for what I would consider a short time,I was profoundly struck by his kindness and wonderful sense of humor.Father Anthony never met a stranger he always had a kind word and advice at the ready. My wife Karen suffered a   Major stroke five years ago and father taught me to truly appreciate the tremendous gift God has given me in taking care of her.Often I would be at his home when he would receive a call from someone in crisis or making an appointment to stop over for confession,or a visit. Father never said no he always made time for everyone. I will never forget how he often spoke of his family and friends those who are with us and those who are with God.Father loved all of you and prayed for your intentions and well-being on a  daily basis. Father often reminded me of the importance of attending Mass and offering the rosary daily.He would always say never let a day go past without heavenly conversation especially praying for others. I would ask everyone who reads this please continue to remember Father in your daily prayers I can assure you that he continues to remember all of you.Father Anthony Serio we love you 🙏🏻🕊❤️

I have too many good memories of my uncle to mention here.
I do have one vivid memory of him. When I used to call him to see how he was doing, I would say 'It's Johnny Boy', and would reply, 'do you mean the baby with the golden curls and beautiful blue eyes?' I would say to him, 'Yes, that's me but that was a long time ago.' He would reply, 'Yes it was, but to me, it is a memory that will never be forgotten.' When I saw him 2 weeks ago in the hospital, I greeted him the same way and repeated what he would say to me but I added 'I don't have the golden curls anymore but I still have the blue eyes' and he replied as his last words to me, 'beautiful blue eyes.' He always had a way of making you feel good and that he was proud of you. It's one memory of him I will never forget. I will miss him more than words could say but I have many many memories of him to comfort me.

Dear Father Anthony,
Thank you for your Priesthood. You had a wonderful influence on our family at OLPS Parish. All four of our children attended school there, had most of their sacraments there, and served as Altar Boy or Lector there. Our family grew in our faith and have many fond memories of those years. It was also a blessing to work for you at the rectory. Thank you Father Anthony. We love you. RIP

I will always remember his singing to me as a child, it is a wonderful memory to have.  Father Anthony was like family and will be missed.

We were always riveted when ever you talked, you always had something interesting to say {or funny}! That's how I'll remember you. I am so grateful that you were a part of my life.
God blessed me and my family as we had you Aunt Millie, Aunt Anna  & Grandma living downstairs. My first memory of you, I was sitting in a high chair  you’d say, give me your finger .. made like you were going to bite it.. and I would laugh. You always told me how I once grabbed hold of your nose and pulled on it... lol and how you still pictured me as that little baby girl. 
I always looked forward to you coming home  To hear your stories, your jokes and funny imitations.  You always talked about our family and your memories and in doing so you kept  everyone alive. 
Thank you for sharing your experience in Fatima and Lourdes, with St Bernadette, the Pope and Mother Teresa.
Thank you for your love , your trust and for the many blessings you have given me and my family.  Please continue to pray for us as you sit with our Lord and all you love.

RIP Father Anthony   became pastor at Our Lady of Prompt Succor when I was pregnant with my youngest child (Lina).  Through the years he became a member of our family and we always felt as though we were part of his.  Father Anthony was a true faithful priest of God.  He will be missed. 

RIP Father Anthony. You were a wonderful pastor at OLPS. It hasn’t been the same since you left. I truly have missed talking to you. You could always make me feel better. Whether it was through reasoning or just simply making me laugh, I always left feeling better.  Please continue to watch over us all. 

You married me and my husband Jerry Levet  on Nov. 28,1970 at St. Mary Magdalen chuch in Metairie,La. 
I will always remember you as being a very caring priest. I will always be thinki ng of you

Rest In Peace Fr Anthony. I will always remember your loving spirit and the happiness your brought to all of us at OLPS. You used to tell my sister and I how much you loved our eyes and always blessed them for us. 

I'm so happy that I was able to see you again at Most Holy Trinity and talked about childhood memories of being my favorite priest at OLPS Church.  He seemed happy to see me that day.  I always asked were you were through the years. Sending prayers and condolences to his family.  I know he is now rejoicing with God. Rest In Peace. Thank you for our spiritual direction. 

Father Anthony was a terrific priest not only to the  OLPS community, but also to the students of OLPS school. I remember how well he could adapt his sermon  for children to understand.  He led me through my first communion and my confirmation. Many great memories. RIP Father Anthony

Father Serio:
I will always remember the 8th grade field trip to see King Tut!  Thank you for all your guidance and officiating at my marriage! Rest in peace.

Great memories here of serving Mass at OLPS with Father Anthony, a great man and a great priest. Rest in peace, Father. Will see you again.

Fr. Serio was a man I looked up to, admired dearly, & loved.  He was always encouraging and believed in me.  He was truly a gift in my life for many years at OLPS through my Communion, Jr. Queen of the OLPS Fair, Confirmation, OLPS Graduation, & my Marriage.  Rest in peace, Fr. Serio.  You will always be a part of my great memories of growing up in Westwego.

So sorry to hear of the passing of Father Anthony.  I have many many memories of him saying mass and being the pastor at OLPS. He married my husband and I 27 1/2 years ago.  Thank you for you for a beautiful ceremony and your dedication as a priest. 

Lots of good memories at Our Lady of Prompt Succor in Westwego. Fr Anthony was there for many of my grade school years, did our Confirmation and Graduation.  He married my husband and I and baptized my first child.  He was a wonderful priest and we missed him when he left. Thoughts and prayers to all his family.

You were a wonderful priest! I have great memories of you being the priest at OLPS during my elementary school days! 💗
