FERRIS, Walter G. Jr. age 92 of Nashville passed away on February 25, 2011. He was born on October 15, 1918 to Rose Anges and Walter Ferris of Floral Park, New York. His is predeceased in death by his wife Florence Virginia Ferris of Bristol Tennessee. He is survived by his wife Rebecca G. Ferris; his brother Edward Ferris , his daughter Barbara F. Richards and son-in-law Stanley M.Chervin of Nashville; and daughter Carol F. King of Birmingham, Alabama; grandchildren, Mark D. Richards (wife Michelle), Jack F. King and Elizabeth K. Hagerty (husband Cooper), and great grandchildren, Chase, Isabella, and Josephine Richards and William and Kathleen Hagerty. Mr. Ferris served in the Army Air Corps during World War II after which he took a management position with Sperry Rand Corporation. In 1952 he and his family moved to Bristol, Tennessee where he lived until his retirement. Mr. Ferris enjoyed a lifelong love of the game of golf, dancing and traveling. He was a member of the Knight of Columbus and active in civic and community organizations over his career. While living in Nashville he attended St Henry’s Catholic Church and Belmont United Methodist Church. The family wishes to express their appreciation to all those who cared for Mr. Ferris including Dr. Julia Gomez, the staff at Belmont Village (especially the PALS) and the staff of Woodcrest for their kindness, and compassion. The family also wishes to thank his wife Rebecca’s grandchildren Cara G. Hogan, Clay Graham, Jamie Graham, Becky Wooley, Francis W Sovine, and James Wooley for their love and affection. Visitation will be on March 1 from 5-7 p.m. at the Brentwood Funeral Home, 9010 Church Street East (Brentwood), and one hour before the Funeral Mass on Wednesday. The Funeral Mass will be held on March 2 at 10:30 a.m. at Christ the King Church on Belmont Blvd. (Nashville). Internment private at the Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery. Memorials may be to the National MS Society (www.nationalmssociety.org).
