Misha was born on January 29, 1965 in St. Louis Park, Minnesota to Henry and Kay Hunke.
She earned two Bachelor’s in Broadcasting (B.A.) and Marketing (B.A.) from Northwestern College in St. Paul, Minnesota. She moved to Nashville in 1987 for an internship at BMI to complete her marketing degree. At the time she also took music business classes at Belmont College. She was hired at BMI following her internship where she later spent her 35-year career.
Misha was vibrant, funny, light-hearted, compassionate, and kind. She was a hard worker and dedicated herself fully to her family, work, and church. She loved to travel, try new things, eat good food, and just have fun. She was always testing out the latest gadgets and technology, trying new recipes on the grill, and never missing a chance to spend time with her family - especially at the pool. She was a sports enthusiast, playing soccer and lacrosse and even earning a black belt in Karate. She also actively attended CrossFit Forte in Nashville.
Misha was a longstanding volunteer leader at Christ Community Church youth groups, spending over 15 years teaching and serving as a leader for kids from elementary to high school.
“Misha was a pillar of our ministry and one of our most consistent and reliable leaders,” the C3 Student Staff Ministry said. “She was at every event, every camp, and every mission trip because our students meant the world to her. Her ministry to them was an incredibly important part of her life.”
She is survived by her mother, Kay Hunke (age 83); sister, Tiffany DuBray (age 56); niece, Kaylyn DuBray (age 25); nephew, Bryce DuBray (age 24); nephew, Connor DuBray (age 22); and niece, Jenna DuBray (age 20).
Her father, Henry Hunke (age 71) and brother-in-law, William DuBray (age 60) precedes her in death.
Misha was well-loved and respected by her coworkers and team at BMI, where she spent her entire career and made many close friends.
