James Emery (Jim) Owens age 72, passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2022. He was born on September 11, 1950 in Forrest City, Arkansas, to the late Elmer Jerome and Lora Louise (Totty) Owens. He moved to Memphis at an early age and made Nashville his home in 1974. He is survived by wife Debby Owens; brother Jerry Owens; daughter Lindsay Owens; son, Zane (Ashley) Owens; grandsons, Oliver and Luca Owens; stepdaughter, Heather (Maxie) Henderson; step grandson, Bryce Henderson.
Jim served in the Army (1970-1972) in an Intelligence Unit during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed a long career in Nashville Residential Real Estate as a Broker and one of the Owners of Woodmont Realty (now Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Woodmont Realty) and was instrumental in the creation of their relocation department. He worked in all aspects of the business and specialized in the sale of REO/foreclosure properties working with many asset managers across the country.
Jim was a member of the Brentwood Morning Rotary Club for 25 years and was a multi-level Paul Harris Fellow. He was active in the literacy program, fundraising and clean-up committee. He was passionate in coaching and participating in his children’s sports events. He volunteered at the VA Hospital and participated on mission trips with his church. After retiring in 2016, Jim played golf in a senior league, traveled and read extensively. He was a loyal fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide and St. Louis Cardinals. Jim was a doting grandpa and enjoyed ice cream Sundays, movies and attending their sports events.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held November 1, 2022, starting with a 2:00 visitation, followed by the service at 3:00.
