George Andrew “Andy” Stewart Jr., age 61 of Hermitage, TN lost his life on June 30, 2020, after a battle with pneumonia, and other serious medical conditions. Kay and his sister Terri, were at his bedside, as he left this Earth and entered Heaven.
Andy was the son of the late George Andrew and Maxine E. Stewart, Sr. Andy is survived by Kay League his sweetheart of six years; Bud (brother-In-Law) and Terri Braswell (sister); (nephews) Josh Helms and wife Dana, and Jacob Helms and wife Emily; (great nieces); Jacqueline, Haley, Natalie and Jayden; (great nephews) Jacob and Jared. Andy was born in Atlanta, Georgia and raised in Roswell and Marietta, Georgia.
He attended Greater Atlanta Christian School, and graduated in 1977, with a Tennis Scholarship. After high school Andy attended David Lipscomb College. He graduated in 1981 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business. After college, Andy began a successful 30 year career in the Steel Industry. He worked as a Steel Salesman/VP for several large steel companies, and traveled the United States. Andy was an avid golfer, playing as much as he could. He loved cars, and he loved boats. For several years he traveled on the BAJA boating circuits, and participated in several boat runs in Tennessee, Georgia and Florida. He was also a football fanatic, being a huge fan of the Georgia Bulldogs, the Atlanta Falcons and the Tennessee Titans, in that order. His health began to decline in his 50's and he was no longer able to work. Andy met Kay during that time, and he loved Kay and her family dearly. When able, they would travel to the beach and to the mountains.
Graveside services will be held Friday, July 17, 2020 at 1:30 p.m. at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta. Andy’s cousin, Rev. Charles Brown is officiating.
