Yuk Ying was born on September 20,1932 in Fuzhou, China. She was married to Kai Chi Kwok for over six decades and was a devoted wife. They immigrated to Hong Kong in 1961, where Yuk Ying raised their six children. In 1969, the Kwok family immigrated to the United States and lived in Washington, D.C., before eventually settling in Culpeper, VA, where Yuk Ying and Kai Chi tirelessly ran a family business for almost 15 years. After selling their successful business, they continued to work with family and lived in Charlottesville and Springfield, VA over the next 30 years before moving to Ellicott City with their son in November 2015. Yuk Ying spent much cherished time with her family for the last years of her life; always placing her loved ones first, and was adored by all who knew her.
Yuk Ying is survived by her husband, Kai Chi Kwok; four children, Brenda Shek of Charlottesville, Fung Sham and Wanda Kwok of Springfield, and Fei Kwok of Ellicott City; two daughters-in-law, Lisa Shao of Gaithersburg, MD, and Ching-Fen Kwok of Ellicott City; three sons-in-law, Yee D. Shek of Charlottesville and Foon Sham and Richard Woo of Springfield; two sisters, Sai Ying Chan of Fuzhou and Sai Mui Chan of New York City; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; one son, William Kwok, and daughter, Cindy Kwok.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, October 13th from 5 to 7 p.m. at Fort Lincoln Funeral Home, 3401 Bladensburg Road, Brentwood, MD and on Sunday, October 14th from 11 a.m. until time of service at 12 p.m. Interment Fort Lincoln Cemetery.
