Veronica Bush

Veronica Davis Bush was born on August 27, 1946, in Washington, DC to late Sarah Fulwood and James Davis. Veronica departed this life on Saturday, November 12, 2022, after a brief illness. Veronica lost her father at an early age, and she was nurtured and raised by her devoted stepfather, the late Elias Prince.

Veronica was educated in the District of Columbia Public Schools and was a proud graduate of Eastern High School. After graduation, she went to work for the telephone company. Veronica was later employed by the federal government, working for both the Department of Navy and the Department of Justice. Veronica retired from the federal government after 32 years of service. After her retirement, she worked for the Prince George's County Public Schools as a substitute teacher.

In 1970, Veronica married the late John Walter Bush. From that union, they were blessed with two children, Kenneth and Rhonda.

Veronica will always be remembered for her love of family. She was always willing to help coordinate family get-togethers, for the holidays. She never forgot people’s birthdays. She was very generous and loved to invest in people. Veronica was a Mary Kay Consultant and also enjoyed sewing and crocheting. Veronica remained active with the Eastern High School Alumni Group, as well as the Iverson Mall Walkers. Veronica was a faithful member of the Community United Methodist Church where she served as an Usher, Sunday School Teacher, Church Finance Team Member, the Bereavement Team, and provided support for various other church activities.

Veronica was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Maurice Prince, and two sisters, Deborah Davis, and Bessie Westfield.

Veronica leaves to cherish her memories her two children, daughter, Rhonda Potter (Eugene) of Waldorf, Maryland, and son, Kenneth Bush of Oxon Hill, Maryland; three grandchildren, Kennide Bush, Joseph Lyles III, and John Lyles; One brother, Gregory Davis, and four sisters, Thelma “Aida” Taylor (Grant), Yvonne Prince, Sarah “Denise” Davis (William), and Josephine “Peaches” Battle; and a host of other relatives and friends.
