Robert Louis Johnson, (affectionately known as "Rob") was born November 25, 1960, in Washington, DC, to Margaret Beatrice O'Neal, neé James, and the late Robert "Doc" Lee Johnson. He departed this earth on Sunday, August 4, 2019, in his home with his loving and devoted sister, Gwen, by his side.
Growing up Rob was surrounded by the love of his younger brother and four older sisters. Though his path (and theirs) wound wide, from his beloved DC to sunny California and back, the bonds between him and his siblings were steadfast.
As a young man, Rob married and had two children, Amber and Jeremy and enjoyed watching them grow into adults. He was incredibly proud of his son, and ever the optimist was still planning and looking forward to their diving trip to the Galapagos Islands. Late in his career, Rob worked (and played, no doubt) alongside his lifelong friend, Reggie. During this time, he worked on numerous projects, often taking time out to work for family and friends, always helping when needed.
Rob lived life to the fullest. He was blessed with an irresistible smile and a boisterous laugh that reverberated throughout a room. He had the ability to talk (and talk and talk and talk) in a way that could keep you engaged for hours. Rob's charming personality accepted you as you are, made friends wherever he went and was always able to turn the ordinary into an adventure.
Nothing got Rob more excited than his grandsons "the boys", telling a story, a fishing trip, a barrel of crabs, and a good party. He was the ultimate storyteller, the heart and soul of the party.
He is survived by his two children Amber and Jeremy Johnson, son-in-law, Nery Herrera, three grandchildren, "the boys", Thomas, Nery, and Beau "Beau Weeble", mother (and formidable sparring partner) Margaret O'Neal, whose love and dedication to him throughout his life was unwavering, sisters, Patricia Bennette, Gwendolyn Dorn (Calvin), Beverly Johnson and Cheryl Robinson, brother Larry Johnson (Delenka), and many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends, all of whom he loved deeply.
