Clarice Irene Turner was born to Mary Alice Gibbs and Thomas Turner on September 3, 1956 in Amherst, Virginia. She fell asleep in death on January 3, 2020. Clarice grew up in a large, close-knit family. As a child she grew up with three of her brothers, David, Melvin and Michael. She was the only girl. She would tell you proudly I grew up with boys - I'm tough. Later her younger brother, Demetrius, was born. As soon as she was to receive a baby sister-Wylicia, Clarice became pregnant herself with a baby girl-Anika and then later had another baby sister-Shanta.
The joys of her life included the over 30 year relationship with the father of her child who preceded her in death, time spent with family and friends and the birth of her daughter.
Clarice did her schooling at Brookland Elementary School, Langley Junior High School and Roosevelt STAY High School. She grew up in a close-knit community.
Clarice worked at a number of jobs, including at the National Education Association. She also worked with various companies as a Security Officer. Her last job was working as a Security Officer with Admiral Security."
Clarice is known as a hospitable and wonderful person, always going beyond the call of duty and the extra mile for people. She also had great determination and perseverance, always trying to see the bright side of things. Clarice was the pillar of support in the family, the adhesion that kept the family together.
Her baptism on July 3, 2004 as one of Jehovah's Witnesses also brought great joy to her life. Her love and dedication to Jehovah God was paramount. She spent 16 years as a faithful Kingdom preacher of God's Word, as well as serving as a full-time evangelizer for some time. Her love for people and deep spirituality are evidenced by her treasured friends and the ones whom she assisted in drawing closer to her God, Jehovah and his son, Jesus Christ.
Clarice leaves behind one daughter and son-in-law, Anika and Matthew, one stepfather, Leon, five siblings David, Michael, Demetrius, Wylicia and Shanta. She was preceded in death by her brother Melvin. She also is survived by 3 uncles and 1 aunt, nephews, nieces and a host of family and friends. Clarice dearly treasured her family and friends and will be dearly missed. We look forward to seeing her again in the resurrection.
