Beverly Ann Massey was born on January 21, 1954 in Washington DC to Alexander and Carrie Campbell. She was the eldest of five children followed by Jerome Ivan, Kenneth Warren, Janice Elaine and Larry Wayne Campbell.
Beverly received her education through the District of Colombia Public School system and graduated from McKinley Tech High School in 1972. Beverly was proud to be a “Techite”. She briefly attended the University of the District of Columbia studying business administration.
After graduating from McKinley Tech High School she began her 40-year Federal Government career at the United States Pentagon. While employed at the Pentagon Beverly worked as an administrative assistant where she exceled in her position and then accepted a job offer at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). She began in The Division of Intergovernmental Affairs and then moved to The Office of Congressional Affairs as a Health System Specialist before retiring in 2015.
Beverly accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior on October 28, 1998 under the leadership of late Rev. Dr. Perry A. Smith III, pastor of First Baptist Church, Inc of North Brentwood. Beverly enjoyed watching old western television shows such as Gunsmoke and Bonanza, listening to 102.3FM and Sirius XM radio, shopping, traveling, playing Candy Crush, going out to eat and loving her family and friends. Her favorite actor was Denzel Washington, who she adoringly kept a framed photo of at her work desk. During her free time, she would knit and crochet blankets. The Dallas Cowboys and the North Carolina Panthers were her two favorite football teams. Some of her favorite foods included steamed Maryland blue crabs and shrimp, Coca-Cola sodas, and her world famous Pinto Beans. Some of her well known dislikes were walking on grass, ice in her drinks, and mayonnaise on her sandwiches.
Her greatest joy in life was her children who she loved with all of her heart and soul. Beverly’s friends and family knew her as a kind, generous and very wise woman.
Beverly was preceded in death by her husband Larry D. Massey, father Alexander Campbell, brother Jerome Campbell and sister Janice Jones.
Beverly leaves behind her mother, Mrs. Carrie E. Campbell, brothers Kenneth Campbell, Sr. (Kathy) and Larry Campbell, Sr. (Lisa), children LaTasha Mills, Janelle Massey and Daniel Springs, Mother-in-law Mrs. Dorothy Jean Ross, lifelong friends Ike Cousar and Barbara Wright and a host of family and friends.
