Benjamin "Benny" Young and Dorothy Anne Young

Benjamin Young departed this life on February 18, 2022 at Sibley Hospital. Benjamin affectionately known as “Benny” was the “Boss” man. He held the Young family together; he was the commander and chief and family love.

Benjamin born to Mary and Cald Washington on March 1, 1933, he was the first of four children. Benjamin attend DC Public Schools, after then he worked for Public Works for 55 years, until he retired.

On December 29, 1971, Benjamin united in holy matrimony with Dorothy for over 60 plus beautiful years.

Benjamin and Dorothy enjoyed dancing, entertaining family and friends. He was an expert on the grill and being around his grandsons. They were his heart and that is all he knew and loved. His grandchildren were his life.

He was proceeded in death by his parents Cald Washington, his brother Don and Sister Jean.

Benjamin leaves to cherish his memory, loving daughter Teverra (Tony), Grandchildren: Michael (Evelyn) Devin, Dominique (Mia), Loreal (Junie), Jernell (Hakeem), and Donnell (Sharnarra), Great Grandchildren: Harmony, DJ, Monaye, A’kri, Eva, Maki and Makal, Brother-in-law John Matthews, 1 Sister, 1 Brother and a host of other family members and friends.

Dorothy Anne Young departed this life on January 16, 2022at home in Washington DC. Dorothy was affectionately known, as “Dot” was the Queen of the Young Family. This beautiful woman loved everyone.

Dorothy was born to Milton and Anna Dorsey on December 22, 1937 and was the fourth of eleven children. She attended Coolidge High School in the District of Columbia where she graduated in June 1955. Dorothy then became a bookkeeper at the Library. She also pursued her passion taken care of babies and was the best babysitter in the world.

Dorothy was a faithful and dedicated member of Holy Comforter Saint Cyprian Church for over 40 years.

On December 29, 1971, Dorothy united in holy matrimony with Benjamin Young. From this union they had one daughter Teverra and gained a son-in-law Tony Brown.

Dorothy has a much known and beloved family. She was proceeded in death by her parents Milton and Anna Dorsey, Her brothers Milton Jr, Jerome and Joseph, sisters Rebecca, Christine and Leona.

She leaves to cherish her memory, loving daughter Teverra (Tony), Grandchildren: Michael (Evelyn) Devin, Dominique (Mia), Loreal (Junie), Jernell (Harkeem), and Donnell (Sharnarra), Great Grandchildren: Harmony, DJ, Monaye, A’kri, Eva, Maki and Makal, Sisters: Marie, Jean, Theresa and Dolly, and a host of nieces, nephews other family members and friends
