Anniyah Monica Yasmeen Dixon (18) transitioned from her physical body and was called home to rest in God’s loving arms on June 1, 2024. Anniyah was born in Clinton, Maryland on June 1, 2006 to Marc Dixon and Darcel Jackson.
Anniyah attended Oxon Hill High School and was enrolled in their Regional Program. She enjoyed the special education teachings in the classroom due to the amazing teachers, staff, nurses and school administrators.
Anniyah had a remarkable ability to bring joy to all she would encounter as she had a smile that would light up a room. Anniyah, had a gentle and pleasant disposition, but, could occasionally give you the “side eye” - telling you just how she felt in that moment.
Through her 18 years of life it was discovered that she had a love for music and dancing (as she would rock from side to side in her wheelchair), she loved trying to eat shrimp, chicken legs and hot dogs, and she was a daredevil as she enjoyed racecars and rollercoasters!
Anniyah enjoyed spending time outdoors with some favorite activities such as fishing and bird/butterfly watching. She also enjoyed balloons and sharing secrets with her big brother Byron.
Anniyah was a Daddy’s girl and Mommy’s inspiration.
Anniyah was born with two rare genetic anomalies (Mosaicism for Trisomy 8 and Trisomy 18) with an initial life expectancy of a year. However, Anniyah chose to write her own story and survived to see her 18th birthday! It is up to us to complete her story and continue her legacy.
Preceding her in death - maternal grandfather Terence O. Jackson and bonus aunt Maxine Reyniece McDougle.
