Sam was born on May 15. 1944 in Bluefield, WV to Samuel F and Norma Louise (Lively) Foster. Sam graduated from Pineville High School, Pineville WV in 1962. He served in the United States Air Force, and in 1964 moved to Bremerton WA with his parents. He spent 30 years at PSNS in Bremerton as a marine machinist. He retired in 1997.
He married his best friend Betty Sue Brown of Bramwell, WV on September 1st 1967 at the First Baptist Church in Bremerton, WA. Sam and Betty were blessed with two daughters. Nancy Ann Foster of Poulsbo, WA. and Janet Lynn (Kurt) Erwin of Bremerton WA.
He was a coach with Peewee football. Sam and Betty were very active in Girl Scouts with both daughters. He was the very first male Girl Scout in Kitsap County. He was also involved with the PTA at Marion Elementary in Bremerton. He enjoyed camping with family and friends, and loved working on old cars.
He was preceded in death by his Father and Mother. He is survived by his wife Betty, daughters Nancy and Janet, Son-In-Law Kurt. Brother Jack (Willie) Foster of Ferndale, WA. Niece Leanne Foster, Nephew Bill Foster, Great Nephew Jackson and Great Niece Hannah. Many cousins, and many whom loved him like a father.
