Michael Joseph O’Shaughnessy Jr went to be with the Lord on Aug 20, 2013, in Bremerton Washington. He was only 58. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He had an infectious laugh, loved to joke, loved to sing, and was kind to everyone he met. Mike was born July 5, 1955, in Lewiston, Idaho to Michael and Marlene O’Shaughnessy. Upon graduation from North Eugene High School he joined the US Navy. His first duty station was Holy Loch, Scotland; were he met the love of his life Shona Eilean Kennedy. They were married Dec 20, 1975.He retired in Sept 1999 as a CW02. He received numerous awards during his career (Navy Commendation medal, Humanitarian service medal among many others.) Some duty stations include: USS Canopus – Scotland, South Carolina, Spain. Naval unit Lowery AFB, Colorado. USS Holland – South Carolina. USS Simon Lake – Scotland, Italy, Virginia. Naval Air Station Florida. USS Carl Vinson –California, Washington. Trident training facility Silverdale Washington. After retirement he worked for General Dynamics 2000-2001, and Lockheed Martin 2001-present. He was a great athlete and competed his whole life. He won bronze and silver medals in world championships in softball, and played on the all navy team while serving. But he was great at every sport he played. He is preceded in death by his father Michael (Mick) O’Shaughnessy. He is survived by his wife Shona of Bremerton. His mother Marlene. His sons Michael III, Matthew, Sean; daughter-in-laws Amy and Kira. Sisters Peggy, Lisa, and Patty, brother-in-laws Virgil, Chad, and Barney. Grandchildren Mya Jade, Dai Riley, Michael IV (Mick), and Erin Mercy. God Daughter Dani Mills and 9 nieces and nephews. A service will be held on Aug 31 at New Life Assembly Bremerton at noon.
