July 3, 1963 – October 8, 2024
MaryJane (Bain) Magnenat, youngest daughter of Marjorie and Gary Bain, passed away in October following a three-year battle with cancer. She was 61. MaryJane was a lifelong resident of Kitsap County, growing up in the Sunnyslope area of Port Orchard and graduating from South Kitsap High School in 1981.
MaryJane met her husband, David Magnenat Jr., through a mutual friend in 1983; they married on March 10, 1984 in Port Orchard. David’s work took them immediately across the country. They made their first home in Reynoldsville, PA, and then Groton, CT. MaryJane worked in retail until the birth of their first daughter, Melanie, in 1987. Soon after her birth, the couple returned to Bremerton, WA; they welcomed their second daughter, Sarah, in 1990. MaryJane spent more than 30 years working with the Bremerton School District as a paraeducator, helping in countless classrooms at Naval Avenue Early Learning Center, and she truly loved her job and all she worked with, students and teachers alike. She retired in December 2023.
Both of her parents, her husband (David), and her sister-in-law (Connie Magnenat) predecease MaryJane. She is survived by her daughters, Melanie and Sarah; her parents-in-law, Cheryle and David Sr.; siblings Richard (Joyce) DeCoy, Steve (Sharmy) DeCoy, Connie (Steve) Bohannon, and Gary (Danelle) Bain.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, November 9th, 2024 from 2pm to 5pm at the Sidney Commons, located at 4885 SW Hovde Rd., Port Orchard, WA 98367. All who knew MaryJane are invited to attend. Please be aware, this is an alcohol- and scent-free event—thank you.
