Raised in rural Olympic View, Jackie graduated from CKHS in 1950, went on to business school, then married her high school sweetheart, moved to Alaska, and had three children. She began her career working for the FAA in Anchorage. As life went on Jackie remarried, to the sweetheart of the rest of her life, and had three more children. Moving back to Kitsap County, she had 36 years of government service at Keyport, Bangor and finally PSNS as an Admin Officer. Service-minded in every way, she also worked with Kitsap Crisis Clinic for 32 years.
Jackie delighted in spending time with her kids and all their children and nurtured many wonderful friendships over the years. Anyone who came to her house felt welcomed. She loved her home and yard, appreciated nature, birds, squirrels, and all flowers. She saw the beauty in everything that surrounded her and greeted each day with immense gratitude. Jackie lived her life simply, just as she wanted it. She showed us all how to give fully, but also how little acts of kindness every day matter.
Jackie took many wonderful trips, including Italy, Australia, Oregon coast, Alaska, New Orleans, Reno, and Vancouver BC. She had fun at the local casinos with friends and family, loved watching her Mariners, going to plant nurseries, and following politics. She juggled much, never seemed too overwhelmed, and considered any adversity 'just part of the course.' Jackie had a humble grace, and much purpose all her life. She was as close to an angel on earth as anyone we have known.
Jackie is deeply missed by her surviving children: Dona, Mike (Patti), Karen, Rosie (Tracy), Mark, and Theresa; her 8 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter. Family invites you to celebrate her life with a visitation beginning at 12pm on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at Miller Woodlawn Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will follow at 1pm.
