Eugene Morris passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on August 13, 2022. He was born February 19, 1938 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. The fourth child of Melvin E. Morris and Sarah R. Thornton, siblings included Marvin, William, Jerold, Kenneth, Ila Rae and Alan Morris. Raised on a farm near Shelley, Idaho, Gene graduated from Shelley High School, and later attended Weber State College in Ogden, Utah with a major in Social Work.
Gene married Winona Marie Weeks on March 2, 1970. They have four children, Lance Morris (Shelley), Karen Morris Berman (Mike), Chris Morris (Blair), and LaDonna Morris Smith (Jeff). He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Karen, granddaughter Stephanie, brothers Marvin, Bill, Jerry, Alan and his sister Ila Rae Wilson.
Gene loved to fish and hunt and travel the globe. He served in the US Army and US Navy, and was a member of the Suquamish Warriors, a Native American Veteran’s group in Suquamish, Washington. Gene worked with his family to honor the Native American Warrior Veterans under the NAWVMA organization and received the Humanitarian Award for his efforts.
Gene served two Missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints with his wife, Winona in Hawaii and Tacoma, Washington.
Gene loved being a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved his Savior, Jesus Christ, and is now in his warm embrace.
Services will be held on Friday, August 19, 2022 at 10:00 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 11070 Old Frontier Road NW, Silverdale WA 98383. Graveside services will be held on Monday, August 22, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery in Shelley, Idaho.
