Elsie Theresa Roach, 76 years of age, of Bremerton, Washington passed away on Friday, July 12, 2019. She was born in San Francisco, California to Williebald Danielle Groschup and Elsie Lee Duncan.
Theresa leaves behind to celebrate her life, Jacqulyn Michelle Smith (her husband Anthony) of Bertrand, Nebraska; a son Daniel Eric Roach (his wife Sheri) of Bremerton, Washington; 7 grandchildren; 6 great grand-children; a brother Eric R. Groschup of Oceanside, California; sister-in-laws Brenda Groschup of Azle, Texas; Ann Groschup of Texas,; one brother-in-law Charles Roach, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and a host of many nieces, nephews and friends.
Theresa attended Diamond Hill Jarvis High School in Fort Worth Texas and graduated May 13, 1961. After graduation, she had many unique jobs. One she especially disliked was working in a chicken factory. While living in California, Theresa began her career working as a bookkeeper. It was while Theresa lived in California she met Jack M. Roach (Lightening) The story goes, Theresa’s mother and soon to be sister-in-law decided to set her up on a blind date. It was on that blind date that Theresa met Jack M. Roach and that is where their courtship began. At first, Theresa was not interested in dating Jack. However, after a few dates and fate, Theresa accepted his attention and Jack’s marriage proposal. They were united on marriage August 26, 1967 and to this union 2 children were born, Jacqulyn Michelle and Daniel Eric. The family made their home in Redwood city, California, then in 1973 Theresa’s husband was transferred to Bremerton, Washington. She began her life as a stay at home mom until 1986 where she employed working as a bookkeeper for Transnation Land Title Company in Silverdale, Washington where she retired in 2009.
Theresa’s love for family, the outdoors and sports came easily for her. A tomboy at heart made it so she could enjoy everything about life and be admired by her family. Her quirky sense of humor and youthful spirit brought joy to those who knew her. One of Theresa’s favorite pastimes was watching and “coaching” her favorite football team, the Seattle Seahawks. She just knew if the team listened to her she could get them to the Super Bowl. Being an avid “fisherwoman”, Theresa along with her husband belonged to a local Poggie Club. However, that did not stop Theresa from fishing. She could tell you exactly when the fish were going to bite and how to catch “the Big One“. On her down time, Theresa and her husband would travel to visit family or camp at the National Parks, played volleyball at the local recreation center, bowling on a women’s league and volunteering at Brownsville Elementary School. After Theresa’s husbands passing in April of 2017, she slowed down a bit and began to focus more on her children, grand children and great-grandchildren.
