Bremerton, WA

to Feb. 4, 2017
Betty was born at home in Machias, Washington to parents, John and Elizabeth Roggensees. She was the last of nine children. She moved to Everett at age six. She attended public schools until the age of 17, when she left to go to work for Boeing as a “Rosie The Riviter”. They were pleased to have someone of her small stature who could fit into all of the small spaces that no one else could.
After the war she married Harold Arnold, someone she had known since childhood, who was home on leave from the Navy. They moved several times due to his military career: Hawaii, Alaska, California. But, always returning to Washington state. In 1974 they retired and moved to Gig Harbor, where they resided for many years.
One of her favorite activities was going to garage sales with her good friends. If invited, she would often be waiting in her driveway, purse in hand. Following Harold’s death, she moved to Country Meadows in Silverdale where she resided until her passing.
Betty was a proud member of the Gig Harbor Methodist Church and later, the Silverdale United Methodist Church.
Betty was preceded in death by all of her siblings; her husband, Harold; and her youngest son, Raymond. She is survived by her son, Norman (Patty); her daughter, Sharon McClelland (Lee); her grandson, Lee McClelland Jr.; her granddaughter, Chris McClelland (Alex); and her great-granddaughter, Robin Pulkrabek (Michael).
Our family would like to thank all of her friends and staff at Encore Communities for their excellent care and friendship to our mom over the years.
Memorial services will be held at the Silverdale United Methodist Church on Saturday, February 18th at 11 a.m.
