Carol Ann Baker, my beautiful wife, passed on Friday (12/18/15) at home in Allyn’s Lakeland Village. Carol was born in Aurora, Nebraska and loved being referred to as a Nebraska girl. Carol had two sisters and four brothers and lived a good life growing up as part of the Lantzer family in a rural Nebraska setting. She attended schools in Aurora and college in Omaha. Her love of the Lord was a strong lifelong guide.
Her two girls, Michelle Dyck and Lori Ackland, were her greatest joy. Carol and her previous husband Lyle Dyck raised their daughters in Nebraska, Oregon, and Washington.
Most of Carol’s working life was spent in the insurance industry but the job that brought her the greatest pleasure was retiring early and being a Grandma to Ashley Littlefield and Tyler Ackland. My great fortune was being her husband (Mick Baker) for the past 7 years. That union is what brought Carol to Lakeland Village, a new home, and golf. Carol was active in the Lakeland Village ladies golf. She enjoyed good music, books, and travel. Carol loved making everyone feel special. Whether that was by entertaining them in her home, making a delicious treat, or spending time on a thoughtful gift.
Carol’s death was a shock and surprise. I’m sure as she looks down on all of us that she is more surprised than anyone to be doing so. She was a blessing of grace, friendship and love to all who knew her. We know that she’s now being blessed in heaven.
Memorials should be directed to Faith In Action in Belfair, WA. An open memorial event is planned for Carol on January 9 at 3PM to be held at the Lakeland Village Clubhouse, 470 E Country Club Dr, Allyn.
