A lifelong resident of VT, Dan loved spending time with his family and friends, fishing, hiking, and exploring Vermont’s great outdoors. He loved working on old Chevy trucks and fabricating parts when needed. He had an impressively inspired mind that enabled him to turn ordinary household objects into new creations. He was born with a natural charm that endeared him to all who knew him.
Dan is survived by his loving wife, Amy (Kellom) Haselton of Vernon; he was a loving stepfather to Amy’s children, Alyssa and Evan Batts and to his beloved stepdaughter, Kayla Butler of Guilford, VT; his mother and stepfather, Carole and James Capen, of Brattleboro; his father and his wife, Lanny and Linda Haselton, of Sheffield, AL; siblings, Sheri McKeon of Milford, DE, Stephen Haselton of Brattleboro, Lee Ann Haselton of Brattleboro, Dawn Pratt of Vernon, David Haselton of Florence, AL, Deborah Morton of Colchester, VT, Laura Murray of Lorton, VA, Josh Haselton of Florence, AL, Nate Wheeler of Sheffield, AL, as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Dan was preceded by a sister, Lynda Jean Haselton on April, 7 1979, and a nephew, Eric James Pratt on January 15, 2012.
A Celebration of Dan’s Life will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 11:00 am at Healing Grace Worship Center, 55 Marlboro Road, W. Brattleboro, VT. A time of refreshments will follow the service, those who would like to, are invited to bring food to share. Burial will follow at Morningside Cemetery, South Main St., Brattleboro. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Amy Haselton, c/o Ker-Westerlund Funeral Home, 57 High St., Brattleboro, VT 05301.
