It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Christine Elizabeth Telfer on June 16, 2024 at the Brantford General Hospital. Chris was pre-deceased by her parents Bob Telfer(2022) and Patricia Telfer(2023). Chris is survived by sister Sandra and brother Patrick(Leslie). Left to mourn the loss of their aunt are nieces Meghan and Erin. Also devastated by the untimely passing of Chris are aunts Michele O’Connor (Don Connolly), Maggie Leitenberger, Joan Butcher, uncle Jim Telfer (Patricia Anderchek) and many cousins with whom she maintained close relationships. Chris had many great friends who are heartbroken that they will no longer be able to spend time with her. Chris especially enjoyed travelling to Sarasota each Fall with family and friends. She was a faithful parishioner of St. Basil Church and a dedicated member of the Catholic Women’s League.
Chris was a long time employee of Bell Canada and its affiliates and recently announced her retirement, which she will, unfortunately, not be able to enjoy.
Christine was a faithful, kind, and humble person. To her family and lifelong friends she was steadfastly loyal and caring. Her sense of humour and engaging laugh, and willingness to help are how we will remember her.
We would like to thank the nurses at Bayshore Home Health who visited weekly and the nurses and staff of the Brantford General Hospital Palliative Care Unit. We would also like to thank Dr. Healy and staff of the BGH Cancer Clinic. Extra special thanks goes out to Chris’ dear friend Lynn who always made herself available for appointments and visited often while Chris was in hospital at various times over the last six months.
Visitation will be at Thorpe Brothers Funeral Home, 96 West St Brantford, on Tuesday, June 25th from 4:00-6:00 pm. Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Basil Parish, 50 Palace St on Wednesday, June 26 at 11:00 am followed by interment of ashes at Pioneer Cemetery Burford. Donations can be made in Christine’s name to Stedman Community Hospice or the Canadian Cancer Society.
