Steve Phillips Jr. was born in Chicago to Steve and Mildred Phillips. He was married to Elizabeth Phillips for 64 years. He worked as a professor for the University of South Florida, University of Tampa and a few other universities. He was a veteran of the Army.

His grandchildren: Alexa Phillips, Brittany Phillips, Riley Kiefer, Jared Phillips, and Haley Kiefer. His sister: Marian Anderson. His cousin: LaVerne (David) Carlson. His brother-in-law: Dennis (Sharon) Marchuk. His nephews and nieces: Kirt (Marina) Anderson, Kevin (Sue) Anderson, Kim (Sam) Wille, Laurie (Terry) Coley, Debbie (Dave) Dembowski, Jeff (Leslie) Lindholm, Tim (Lynda) Lindholm, Bobby (Sophia) Lindholm, Rick (Nicole) Lindholm, and Doug (Sarah) Johansen, Michael (Brenda) Marchuk, Laura (Sean) Mullins.
A military funeral service will be held at 12:30 pm, Friday, September 13, 2024 at Bay Pines National Cemetery.
