Richmond Neale, 95, went home to be with the Lord on June 8, 2011 in Merritt Island, Florida. Dick was born June 8, 1916, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. As a member of the Greatest Generation, he defended his country in World War II as a Naval Aviator with VPB-108 in the Pacific theater with the rank of Lieutenant.
His childhood was spent in Wimauma, Florida, and he attended the University of Florida. He raised his family in the Redland area of Homestead. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Hughes Neale. He is survived by his other children: Jean Worley (Paul), James Henry Neale, Mary Blake (Preston), Marty Evans (Gary), Linda Speaker (Alan), Susan Wiley (Chris), and Barbara Mullen (Rick), 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Dick was a millwright and a union member for 50 years. He loved working crossword puzzles, following the stock market, and playing bridge. He was a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Homestead. Among the things Dick will be remembered for are his work with the Lions Club and teaching swimming and life saving to Boy Scouts of Troop 69.
Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Durant, Florida.
