Maxine Louise Harrell, 69, went home to be with the Lord on May 24, 2014. Born to the late Willie and Mary Spencer, Maxine was the eldest of six siblings. She was a graduate of Muskegon Heights High School and Muskegon Community College. After graduation, she worked as a billing clerk at Continental Motors and later served as an administrative assistant of Muskegon County Courts. She moved from Muskegon to Detroit, Michigan in the late 1960s, and paved the way for several family members to transition to Detroit by opening the doors of her home on many occasions. She was a PHENOMENAL MOTHER—taking seriously the nurture and care of her children. She enjoyed reading and playing the piano. Maxine worked for the Detroit Board of Education for nearly 30 years until she retired and moved to Tampa, Florida. She is survived by three of her four children: Gerald, Jeffery (Tila), and Veronica; and preceded in death by her son, Keith, and son-in-law, Robert. She also leaves to cherish her memory five siblings: Willie Jr., Ronald, Joyce, Terry and Gail; grandchildren: Shawn, Jeffery, Marcus, Asia, David and Maxine; three great grandchildren: Shawn, Devon, Adrianna; special caregivers, including Ms. Penny, Ms. Luz, and Ms. Rosa, and a host of other loving family members and friends. Maxine's presence on earth will be missed by the many lives she touched, but her transition to Heaven is a reason to rejoice.
