Esperanza was born in Guantanamo, Cuba, on January 18, 1939. She entered Heaven's gate on March 19, 2018.
Esperanza loved God, her family & friends, cooking, dancing, and music. She looked forward to cooking and sharing meals with family & friends, while enjoying great conversations on a broad spectrum of subjects. She had a kind spirit, and offered her time and resources to anyone in need. Her great sense of humor, and joy of life, could make anyone laugh, even under the worst of circumstances. She will be remembered as a kind, supportive, encouraging, and joyful mother, grandmother, and friend.
Esperanza was predeceased by her husband, Alberto Fernandez; her sisters, Fe Pardo, and Caridad Acosta; and by her mother Delia Arida.
Esperanza is survived by her daughter, Marie Batko and husband Steve; son, Ignacio Fernandez, Jr. and Sophie Graffer. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Angel Ortiz, Anthony Fernandez, Alexis Fernandez, and Nicholas Graffer.
Mayis ALF lovingly cared for her the last three plus years of her life. The family gives them their greatest gratitude.
