Catherine Jane Poteat

She was the eighth of ten children born to Willard and Minnie Cornett. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Brandon from an early age. Catherine loved Genealogy. She was a member of the DAR Alafia River Chapter for thirty years. She worked hard ordering and reading numerous history books, visiting libraries and typing information on her small electric Corona typewriter.

Catherine and her husband Robert loved to go antique shopping in Georgia, Tennessee, and the Carolinas. Family members call Catherine “Meemie or Kitty.” She was a loving and caring Christian lady who loved her family members dearly.

Catherine is survived by her son, Don Hawkins (Jodi); daughter, Sharon Palmer (David); grandchildren, Chris Meier (Shelly), Kari Nylund (Todd), Deena Fiorello (Tim), Dustin Hawkins (Dana), Danielle Liles (Corey); great grandchildren Camren Meier, Chloe Nylund, Katelyn, Corbin and Brody Fiorello, Addison and Channing Hawkins, Railey and Lainey Liles; sisters Betty Ehrhart and Carolyn Summerall; sister-in-law Maudine Cornett; along with numerous nieces and nephew.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Brandon.

A Graveside service to be held at New Hope Cemetery, 207 New Hope Road, Brandon, Florida 33511.
