Byron W. Conner Jr., aged 63, passed away unexpectedly while working in Chicago on April 4, 2024. Born on November 5, 1960, in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Byron Sr. and Jacqueline Conner, Byron was a man of many talents. His dedication to his country was evident through his 9 years of service in the Air Force followed by 4 years in the Air National Guard. While in the reserves, he was ordered to active duty and served in the Gulf War.
Beyond his military service, Byron led a successful 36-year Field Service career, demonstrating his expertise and commitment to his craft. He was a very hardworking man and took great pride in providing for his family. Byron loved playing golf with friends at the Tampa Bay Golf and Country Club; his other passions extended to chess, football, Bowling, and singing, activities that he not only excelled in, but also found immense joy and relaxation. In his youth, he represented the Air Force as a ranked racquetball competitor and was also a very talented Judo champion in his teens.
Byron was a true southern gentleman, with an infectious smile, endearing twang, and a wonderful goofy sense of humor. He never met a stranger, as evidenced by the warmth he exuded towards everyone around him. Above all, Byron cherished the moments spent with his loved ones, and held them all dearly to his heart.
Byron leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth. He is survived by his loving wife Gina; children Josh (Kendra), Nastasha (Christian), Alecia, Nick (Christy), and Lexie (Christian); parents Byron Sr. and Jacqueline; 12 grandchildren; his siblings Lee (Bob) and Shawn (Mary); and his stepchildren Lauren (Chris), Patrick (Courtney), and Jake (Jessie) who all adored him as a wonderful stepfather. His former wives Sonia and Casey, along with many loving extended family members and friends, will also hold his memory dear.
A funeral service to celebrate Byron's life will be held on April 21 at Hillsboro Memorial Gardens. His spirit, characterized by kindness, generosity, humor, and love will continue to inspire those who knew him. Byron's journey on earth may have concluded, but his story will be told for generations to come, a tale of a life well-lived and a man greatly loved.
Rest in peace, Byron. You will be missed, but never forgotten.
