To try to share just one memory of Bettye is a true challenge,  because I have so many, so I will tell one that Bettye enjoyed sharing. It had to do with her early teaching days.  She said " it was a class of kindergarteners, now they're too young to learn too much and are easily distracted. " One day,  as she's trying to teach this little boy raises his hand. " " Ms. Davis,  Ms Davis " he calls out.  She politely asked him to wait until she's finished talking.  " But Ms Davis,  Ms. Davis " he says again. " Wait until I'm finished speaking " she replied again. He continued to hold his hand up. Finally she was finished speaking,  went over to the little boy and asked him " What's so important that you have to interrupt the class to say?" He looked at her and said  " You wore that same dress last Thursday. " She would laugh every time she told that story. She made sure not to wear that dress on Thursday again 
 Bettye and I spent time together almost daily for the last year and a half and my life is enriched forever because of our friendship. She was a devoted Christian,  a born Teacher, and a True Friend. We spent countless hours laughing,  going on outings, telling stories and enjoying life together.  I'll deeply miss my friend,  until we meet again.
