Ruth Young Martin, 95, of Montague, NJ and recently of Bristol Glen of Newton, NJ, has passed away on April 5, 2023 to meet her husband, Gordon Matin who passed March 8, 2012. She was born September 5,1927 in Passaic, NJ to Robert L young and Gertrude Schlingloff Young. She shared her life happily with her family and friends for many years in Waldwick, NJ. She is survived by her son Alan G. Martin and Gail of Hampton Township, NJ, daughter Nancy L. White and John of Mahwah NJ, Grandsons Robert White and Alisha of Mahwah and Douglas White and Andrea of Westchester. Great grandchildren Alexis, Olivia, Ava Rose, Gavin and Aidan and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Doris Hunt Kaveny, and brother-in-law Raymond Kaveny, best friends and brothers-in-law, Edgar Hunt of Waldwick, NJ and Wilmer Martin and sister-in-law Mable of Waldwick, NJ and Lake Wallenpaupack, Pa.
Ruth spent her childhood in Waldwick, NJ and graduated from Ramsey High School. In 1945 she married her high school sweetheart, Gordon, while he was in the Navy Air Corp during WWII and they had 67 wonderful years together until his passing at age 86. Ruth was a Cub Scout den mother and was active with the Girl Scouts. She enjoyed bowling with her team and cheering Gordon’s Little League team. She was retired after many years at Hewlett Packard Company in Paramus, NJ. She and Gordon enjoyed many years at Lake Wallenpaupack PA and later at Lake Worth, Florida near her sister and family.

There will be no public service but friends may choose to remember her by making memorial contributions to United Methodist Communities at Bristol Glen, Newton, New Jersey, Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice, the Port Jervis Animal Shelter or a charity of your choice.
