Jim was born in Branchville on February 23, 1942; he was a lifelong Sussex County resident. He graduated from Newton High School in 1960 and had a long career as mechanic. Jim was a fleet mechanic for the former United Telephone Company for many years and worked as a mechanic with Condit Motors for more than 20 years.
Jim was an active volunteer with Branchville Hose Co. #1 for more than 50 years and served as a Past-Chief. He loved NASCAR and dirt track racing. Jim was a member of the Frankford Seniors. He was a kindhearted man always willing to help someone in need.
Jim was predeceased by his parents, Glenn and Ina (Drew) Lantz; his brother, Glenn Lantz; his sister-in-law, Janet Lantz; his sister, Judith Roe; and his brother-in-law, Jesse “Skeet” Grant Roe. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Gladys Lantz; his sons, Brian and Kevin Lantz; his daughter, Heather Perini and husband, Ryan; his grandchildren, Hunter Lantz, Melanie Chirichillo and Dylan Perini; and his brother, Darryl Lantz and wife, Nancy.
A Memorial Visitation will be held from 6 pm to 8 pm on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at Wood Funeral Home, 16 Main St, Branchville. Firemen’s Services will begin at 8 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home.
