Alan was born on June 11, 1947 in Suffern, NY to the late Gordon and Ruth (Young) Martin. Alan grew up in Waldwick and lived in various places before building his home in Hampton Township in 1979. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Monmouth College, Illinois, and went on to pursue his Master of Arts at Fairleigh Dickinson University. A proud Army veteran, he served with distinction and honor during the Vietnam War.
Outside of his academic and military pursuits, Alan had a deep love for all things automotive. He enjoyed spending countless hours fixing and restoring classic cars, a hobby that brought him immense joy and satisfaction. He was a familiar face at car shows and loved sharing his knowledge and appreciation for vintage automobiles.
His love for vehicles extended beyond the garage, as he also found peace and relaxation in RV camping, where he enjoyed exploring the outdoors with family and friends. When he wasn't tinkering with engines or polishing his latest restoration, Alan could often be found on the golf course, perfecting his swing and enjoying the company of good friends.
The beloved husband to Gail Martin, Alan is also survived by his sister, Nancy White (John); his sister-in-law, Glenda Flanagan; his nieces and nephews, Robert White, John Flanagan (Lisa), Douglas White (Andrea) and Kiersten Motz (Jeremy), nine great-niece and great-nephews and his canine companion, Roxie Ribs.
