Timothy Arthur White

Passed away in Brampton, On on Monday, October 24, 2022 at the age of 69. Cherished husband to Jane for over 44 years. Loving father to Thomas (Stephanie), Shane (Inna), Kaitlin and Galen. Devoted papa to Lily. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his brother Geoff, his aunt Betty, his nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

In his early years, Tim became an enthusiast for sports. He joined local baseball and curling teams. In his late teens his interest in music developed as many bands emerged, such as the Beatles. He was quick at learning to play the keyboard and used his sense of perfect pitch to guide him as he adapted to the new hits played on the radio. He joined local bands playing the keyboard and would often hitch-hike to Toronto to attend concerts with not much on his back. He worked for a short time at logging camp in Grundy Park.

In 1973 He left Lindsay to attend Humber College of Applied Arts in Etobicoke, Ontario. Tim and Jane met at Humber through a personal friend who introduced them to each other. As they were both enrolled in the Jazz Music Program, they began their friendship sharing their interest in new emerging artists and attending concerts. Tim learned flute, saxophone, and keyboards, and in 1976 graduated from the Jazz Music Program, specializing in Band Arranging. He accompanied on keyboard for Pucks Circus (acrobatic acts) in Toronto and joined them as they travelled across Canada for several months.

While on Tour, Tim read a book given him by Jane called “He is There and He Is Not Silent”. Tim had been influenced by various philosophers, and soon began to shift his mind toward the reality of a God who is personal, and not far away.

Tim became born again under the Teachings of Francis Schaffer in 1975. Jane, whose life had been more cultivated toward faith in God, was hoping for Tim to encounter God in a personal way. Soon after, he joined the Free Methodist Church in Etobicoke, and began his life with God.

In 1978 Tim and Jane were married, and both became involved in the church. Tim taught on moral issues, served on the Board, and wrote articles for the church’s newspaper “The Herald”. They both used their musical talents; Jane was pianist for many years.

Tim had a strong and successful career with CIBC Business Banking in Toronto. He began his career in Commerce Court West in 1977, Cash Management segment in various capacities, Fill-in Team Leader, Tech Support, and special projects. In the latter years, he specialized in the Business Contact Centre area. He received recognition for outstanding achievement, with honorary certificates, plaques and bonuses over the years for his excellent service. Tim was skilled in business practices, offering high level customer support, and enjoyed connecting with people of different backgrounds culturally, and linguistically. He would often use phrases in their native language and remember their place of birth.

Tim retired in 2017 receiving a framed certificate in celebration and appreciation for his valued service of 40 years. Tim was known by his CIBC colleagues as a gentleman, kind, patient and a great business partner. Tim will be greatly missed by all his colleagues at CIBC.

I think fondly of our bus rides home after late practice at Humber; chatting about latest musical artists. These simple ways of sharing our lives with each other have continued to mark us individually and unify us together. Jane

In the early years of raising a family, it seemed hard for Tim to find money to tithe. Two areas began to merge for, however. Steadily, Tim became avid in prayer for the land and people of Israel. He steadily began to increase contributions to support Humanitarian causes, and Faith based ministries in Canada, and around the world. Our lives have truly been blessed by God.
