Born in St. Stephen, New Brunswick, Evelyn (“Evie”) died peacefully at the age of 94 after precious moments with her family by her side at Lakeridge Health Supportive Care Unit in Oshawa. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Donald Williams, her parents Albert and Bernadette (Taylor) O’Brien, and her sisters Hilda (Jack, deceased), Bernice (Lorne, deceased), Eileen (William, deceased) and Maxine (Joseph, deceased). Evelyn is survived by her sister Connie (Leon), her children Maureen (Dan), Kathleen, Daniel (Tara) and Terence (Cynthia), her grandchildren Shannon (Andrew), Kellyanne (Michael), Scott (Zoe), Jake (Brittney), Matthew, Hannah, Rose, Owen and Creegan and her great grandchildren Brooklyn, Jack, Xavier and Cameron. Evelyn will be remembered fondly by her friends, brother and sister in-laws and many nephews and nieces and their spouses. She was proud of her New Brunswick and Irish roots, fulfilling a life-long dream to travel to Ireland with her husband Donald. The family has many fond memories of yearly trips to New Brunswick and Nova Scotia in the summer. Evelyn was a dedicated parishioner of St. John Fisher church in Bramalea, Ontario, and was devoted to her family and faith. She worked part-time for Simpson’s and The Bay for over 25 years, developing an expertise in housewares. She loved to cook, bake, read, do crosswords, listen to music and share a laugh. She enthusiastically explored new hobbies including ceramics, artwork, knitting and home decorating. She is fondly remembered for her delicious baking, recipes and comforting hot meals prepared lovingly and with joy for her family. She lived a full and good life and always engaged those she met in a welcoming, friendly and inquisitive manner with a smile and gentle demeanor. She will be greatly missed and always loved and remembered. The family would like to acknowledge and thank the wonderful staff at Hillsdale Estates, where Evelyn endeared herself to many during her time there, and at Lakeridge Health Supportive Care Unit, for the compassionate and warm care Evelyn received. Visitation will be held at ANDREWS COMMUNITY FUNERAL CENTRE – BRAMALEA CHAPEL, 8190 Dixie Road, Brampton on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 from 4 pm to 8 pm. A private Funeral Mass will be held for immediate family only. Interment at Assumption Catholic Cemetery, Mississauga.
