David Shanks

Suddenly but peacefully with family by his side on Sunday September 7th, 2014 at Brampton Civic Hospital. Aged 67. Survived by Cathy his wife of 44 years, son Scott and his wife Julie as well as the lights of his life – his grandchildren Nathan and Leah. He is also lovingly remembered by his brother John (Mary) Shanks, Sisters Elizabeth (Joe) Matthews, Catherine (Stuart) Johnston, brother Thomas Melville, mother-in-law Violet MacLeod, brothers-in-law Duncan (Janice), Gordon, sister-in-law Sheila. Cherished uncle to Bill Shanks as well as to several other nephews and nieces in Canada and Scotland. David was predeceased by his parents Elizabeth and William Shanks, brother Bill, and sister-in-law Nan Shanks. David was a proud member of IUEC Local 50 Elevator Mechanics and long time member of Bramalea Rangers Supporters Club. He leaves behind many friends from both organizations. Public visitation to occur at Andrews Community Funeral Centre (8190 Dixie Rd. Brampton ON. 905-456-8190) on Thursday September 11, 2014 from 2 – 4 and 7 - 9 pm with a funeral service to occur in the chapel at Andrews Community Funeral Centre on Friday September 12, 2014 at 1:00 pm.
