Mick was born in Dover Ohio to Vaughn and Eva McCracken. Growing up in Dover, Mick played many sports including baseball, basketball, and golf. He was known locally for throwing a no-hitter in high school.
Mick entered the Army and made the golf team. After the Army, Mick went to work at the French Lick golf course as a Golf Director and started tournament play in his golf career. He then moved to Pensacola, Fl. as a golf pro eventually landing in Sebring, Fl in 1992 where he met the love of his life Kay. In 1995, Mick and Kay moved to Bradenton where Mick was the Golf Pro at the Woodlawn Country Club until it closed in 2013. Mick began his time with Dignity Memorial in 2013 which started as a courier for the locations along with being a Brand Ambassador playing golf for the many tournaments to support local non-profits. Mick was a Life Time member of the Elks Lodge and was known for the steak cookouts and chairing the golf tournaments to help raise money for the Elks Charity.
Mick is survived by his wife, Kay of Bradenton; daughter, Shelly Davis of Louisville, Ky; son, Brock McCracken of Louisville, KY; step-daughters, Tracey Thompson, Jennifer McGurn; step-son, James Lee Robertson, Jr.; 7 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; and his sister, Sandy Miles.
A Celebration of Life for Mick will be held Tuesday, October 29, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Robert Toale & Sons Celebration of Life Center, 4310 Solutions Lane, Bradenton, FL 34211.
