Hi grandma. I can almost hear you saying "Hi sweetie" and putting your hand on my lap. I have so many fond memories with you that I could never forget. I can see through my eyes memories of us sitting together in your house in Ohio, talking about your shows and you telling me stories about everything under the sun. But the thing I'll never forget about you ever in my life is your laugh. You were the most giving, kind-hearted person and to me, you are invincible. There is no way any of the people's lives you touched could ever forget about you. Your voice will forever ring like a song, and i'll never forget the words. I promise you i'll always be singing along. I don't want to say goodbye. You'll always be in my heart and i'll never have to lose you because you'll always be right here. I find myself saying "I could have done this" or "i could have done that" but when everything's said and done, everyone is going to walk away with an " I could have" statement. I promise to celebrate you in every way I can. You are the sweetest person I know. I love you. You have impacted my life in the best ways, and i'm forever grateful for the time i was able to share with you. Im forever grateful to Oma for giving me the opportunities to spend time with you, but most of all her love and care that was unconditional for you. I couldn't think of a single person i would've wanted you to spend your last days with besides Oma. Grandma you are such a bright light, and i'll always be beaming with pride in the fact that I knew you and you're in my heart.

Dear Family... we are so sad at the passing of Joyce. We have so many memories of her that are filled with laughter and smiles.  The sparkle in her eyes when she was telling stories is so vivid in our memories. Charles was so proud of his little sister and always made it a point to keep in touch and visit as often as possible when she moved away.  The Garrett children were a tight bunch and worked hard to be successful and productive.  We are all proud to be a part of their heritage.  She outlived all her brothers.. because they made her tough! 
Even though we can't be there with you all, just know that you are in our prayers and we share this grief with you. God blessed us with her presence in our lives and for that we are forever grateful.  She will be missed. Hold tight to all your special memories and she will never be forgotten.  Love and prayers,

Joyce was so more than a grandmother.  She was a friend.  She was always someone I could talk to about anything.  She made my children so happy.  From her stories to her memories she will be truly missed.  My heart is a little more empty with her passing. She took me in as her own granddaughter so many years ago and always treated me as her own.  She taught my children to be better people. They are so fortunate to have spent time with her and to know how much family meant to her. I have not met a more caring, loving person who would rather give you the clothes off her back, the food out off of her plate if it helped someone in any way. Grandma will be truly missed and will always be with my family everyday. I love you grandma and will never forget how you touched our family in so many ways.

Joyce was more of a grandmother than mother in-law figure to me. Her positive cheerful personality drew children to her. She loved children and played with them as though she were still a child. That positive and friendly demeanor also drew new friends to her at Desoto Beach Club. Playing games and singing with these new friends gave Joyce immense pleasure. These new friends missed Joyce very much when she was hospitalized this summer. They visited Joyce during her illness and brought her pleasure knowing that she touched their lives.

Joyce was also a wonderful mother and mother in-law to my wife and me. Her humor and positive outlook will be missed. We shared some common interests such as railroads and trains. She was delighted to take a short train trip with us last year. The trip brought back many fond memories of her childhood growing up around railroads. I saw the child in Joyce during that trip.

Joyce is missed already. There will be a hole in our lives for some time to come. I know her faith gave her comfort and reassured her in her final days. God bless you Joyce.

Dear Grandma Hoffman, You took up a huge space in my heart and you still do. I know we all wish you lived longer but the time we had to together was amazing. I know you are not in pain anymore and that's good because I know you were in so much of it. I wish I could have seen you more or visited you more, but the time we did have together was so memorable. I love you so much grandma more than you can imagine and you always take up a huge place In my heart. To me your not gone because I know you will always be here and so will your memories. I promise those stories you would always tell us will live on forever. I love you grandma.

Dear Grandma Hoffman,
I know we didn't really spend that much time together but the times we did spend together were the best! I know that you are in a better place but I cant stand the fact that you are gone. I will think of you every day. Today when papa gathered us up and said those words the world stopped. I immediately went into tears and felt my heart sink. I felt like a part of me was missing. while I was writing this letter papa stopped me and gave me a long hug I really needed that because the last time I saw you I thought I would see you at least 1 more time. just know you will always be thought of all the time through good and bad I will always love you grandma your a very special person

I often find it hard to believe she's really gone, but in true reality only the physical part of her is no longer with us. She was a woman that everyone and anyone loved and respected. I, personally, looked and spoke to her in the utmost of respect. Never was there a time that I was bored or tired being around her. You could never hear her stories or watch her western shows enough. I feel as though everything reminds me of her, and maybe that's an amazing thing because she will be that much closer to me always. I know for sure her voice and upbeat personality will never leave my mind. On every special occasion and birthday I will remember her, and I'm sure that everyone else will as well. I can still remember her telling me that no matter what she would always love me and that I was a very important part of her heart. Although I feel a piece of me has left with her, I will always have a piece of her in me. There aren't words big enough to explain how much I love her.
