Jose graduated from Tufts University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. After graduation, he attended OCS and was a LTJG in the Navy. After the Navy, he was employed by Firestone, Pfizer and finally Gibbs Oil Co. His service and jobs took him from Baltimore, MD; Akron, OH; Groton, CT; Portugal; and Cambridge, MA, before ending in Medford, MA, in 1970. In 1979, he retired from engineering and moved to Florida, ending up in the Tampa Bay area. In 2019 he and his devoted wife, Mimi, moved a little further south to Bradenton, FL, to be closer to their daughter, where he spent his remaining years.
Jose was a friend to everyone he met. He gave himself and his home to anyone who was in need. He always greeted you with a smile and good words and, if lucky, some corny jokes. Before moving to Florida he looked forward to his foursome weekend golf games and of course all the family gatherings... and there were many!! In 1975 he purchased a condo on the beach in Jupiter, FL, where he and his family would spend many vacations. After moving to Florida, his golf games ended but not his love for watching all sports, especially with his son Roland. On his 50th wedding anniversary he was gifted a cruise and a new love emerged. He and Mimi would join Ruby and Craig on many voyages, making many more happy memories. In his last years he always looked forward to seeing his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren. His love for his family was everlasting.
Jose was predeceased by his mother Isabel, father Francisco, brother Inacio, sister Isabel and his beloved son Roland.
Jose is survived by his devoted wife Mimi, whom he married on December 26, 1954; daughter Ruby Wade and her husband Craig; Rhue Reis and his wife Barbara; grandchildren Alex Reis and his wife Kate; Lauren Walczak and her husband Bobby; Kristen Reis and Zachary Wade; and great-grandchildren Ellie, Sadie, Owen and Landon.
Everyone who knew Jose was blessed for having him in their lives. He was loved by all and will forever be in our hearts. He is once again enjoying his games with Roland....
