John Padbury Hopkins, originally of Canandaigua, New York, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2020 in Bradenton, Florida. He was 93 years. He lived and worked in Kansas City, Boston, Atlanta, The Netherlands and Florida in sales and irrigation for waterworks companies his entire career. His greatest joys were working the land, sailing, swimming, playing polo and dancing. Having been a US Navy seaman during World War II, he was happy to end his career and life near the ocean in Florida. He leaves behind four children, Sherry Ranta (Newburyport, MA), Holly Hopkins Rose (Phoenix, AZ), Lee Ann Hopkins (Alexandria, VA) and John Padbury Hopkins II (New York, NY), as well as five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind nieces and a nephew. His wives, Sally Connor Hopkins and Sally Merritt Hopkins predeceased him. Mr. Hopkins will be interred in Florida with military honors from the U.S. Navy. His final resting place will be next to his beloved wife of 47 years, Sally Merritt Hopkins, at the Mansion Memorial Park in Ellenton, Florida.
