John "Jack" Franklin Grooms

John "Jack" Franklin Grooms Sr. peacefully passed away January 19, 2019 at the age of 83. John was born March 4, 1935 in Rockhill, S.C. John proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force, followed by several years in the Air Force Reserves. After his service he attended the University of South Carolina where he graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration. John became a Bradenton resident in 1970 and was a member of Bayshore Baptist Church for 49 years. He was the President of the Florida Chapter Arthritis Foundation until his retirement in 1998. Prior to his career with the Arthritis Foundation he worked many years for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

John was preceded in death by his parents, John Grooms and Jessie Grooms Jones. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Ann Crout Grooms; sons J. Frank (Nancy) Grooms of Bradenton, FL., Robert E (Rosemary) Grooms of Ocala, FL., and his two granddaughters, Amanda and Megan Grooms of Bradenton, FL, who were the light of his life! He is also survived by 4 brothers: Bill (Louise) Grooms, Donald (Miriam) Grooms, Thomas (Mary Kay) Grooms, Charles (Katherine) Grooms, all from Columbia, S.C.

Visitation is Wednesday, January 23, 2019 from 5-7 PM at Robert Toale & Sons Funeral Home: 1221 53rd Ave E. Bradenton, FL. Funeral Service held Thursday, January 24, 2019 at 1:00 PM at Bayshore Baptist Church 6502 14th St W Bradenton, FL., followed by Interment with Military Honors at Manasota Memorial Park: 1221 53rd Ave E. Bradenton, FL.
