John A. Buhler, age 81 of Bradenton, FL passed away August 24, 2017. He was born November 12, 1935 in Hollis, NY to Anton and Emma (Braun) Buhler. John joined the US Navy at the age of 17 and eventually discharged as a Seaman second class after serving for four years on the USS James C. Owens DD-776, where he completed a world tour in the Korean War. John married the love of his life, Elizabeth (Rutigliano) Buhler on December 19, 1954, who survives him. He is also survived by his sons, John A. (Diane) Buhler, Jr. of Bradenton, FL, Russell (Pamela) Buhler of Santa Fe, TX, and Gary (Jill) Buhler of Tampa, FL; grandchildren, children of John: Teresa (Robert) Rahe of Orlando, FL, John A. (Dr. Meghan) Buhler III of Bradenton, FL, children of Russell: Troy (Kaityln) Buhler, and Trayton Buhler of Sante Fe, TX, children of Gary: Austin, Benjamin, and Cameron Buhler of Tampa, FL; great grandchildren, Aiden and Emma Rahe of Orlando, FL, and John A. Buhler IV and Philip Buhler of Bradenton, FL; brother, Robert (Marlene) Pliska of Sebastian, FL; sister, Ronnie Garafola of Sound Beach, NY; and sister-in-law, Mary Buhler of West Palm Beach, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Charlie Buhler. Visitation will take place on Friday, September 1, 2017 from 5:30pm-7:30pm at Manasota Funeral Home; 1221 53rd Ave. E., Bradenton, FL 34203. A Funeral Mass will be held at All Saints Chapel located at Cardinal Mooney Catholic High School on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 10:30am. Interment will take place at Bay Pines National Cemetery in St. Petersburg, FL. In lieu of flowers, a gift to the American Cancer Society or Tidewell Hospice is appreciated.
