Harold “Rick” Richard Mixon, age 68, passed peacefully at home in Parrish, FL on July 2nd, 2022. Born December 9th, 1953 in Bradenton, FL to Harold Richards Mixon and Ruby Elizabeth (Thompson) Mixon. He was a lifetime resident of Bradenton, FL area. He was a 1972 graduate of Manatee High School. Graduated Manatee Jr. College. He went on to work in the petroleum business. Rick retired from Midco/Bi-County Petroleum of Sarasota in 2021.
He had many hobbies over his life to include, fishing, building and racing cars in his younger years, becoming a Ham Radio Operator in early 1980’s, call sign KB4CIA. Making friends and collecting postcards from around the world. He enjoyed building and flying model airplanes, helping create Animal Aircraft flying team, as well as a past member and President of Manatee County Radio Controllers (MCRC). He was self-taught to play the banjo and enjoyed that during his down time.
He is survived by his daughters, Tammy Murray (Randy) of Parrish, FL and Jamie Taylor (Tim) of Lizella, GA, four grandchildren Cacey Taylor (Jamie) of Columbia, SC, John Taylor (Clara) of Macon, GA, Emma Taylor and Abby Taylor both of Lizella, GA, great grandson Blaine Taylor of Bradenton, FL. He is also survived by sisters, Elizabeth “Betty” (Mixon) Walls (Wayne) of Palmetto, FL and Jean (Mixon) Duval (Paul) of Bradenton, FL. Many nieces and nephews. Rick was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He had many friends over the years and he will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Aloma (Warren) Mixon and parents, Harold Richards Mixon and Ruby Elizabeth (Thompson) Mixon.
