He was born October 2, 1923, in Wayne Co., IN. He was the youngest of 12 and grew up on a farm.
Ernest served in the US Army, and was a decorated WW II veteran. He was a retired United Auto Worker, and migrated with his wife to Bradenton, in 1988.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Thurston, of Bradenton; 4 children, Marcena Henemyer, of Richmond, IN, Angela Patton, of Bradenton, Michael Thurston, of Winchester, IN, and Candy McClure, of Gastonia, NC, 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
He was a Christian and a proud member of the VFW. He loved baseball, hunting and fishing. He was a kind and compassionate man who was well loved by all who knew him. We love you "Slim", you will be missed.
At his request there will be no services.
