David George Carter of Lakewood Ranch, FL, passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at Lakewood Ranch Medical Center after a long battle with CHF. He was born on August 9, 1942 in Harrisburg, PA, to George and Margaret Carter and lived in Bloomsburg, PA for the first three decades of his life.
After graduating from Bloomsburg High School in 1960 and working as a barber at Reilly’s Barber Shop, he began his career as a Respiratory Therapist, working at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA and Johns Hopkins University Hospital in Baltimore, MD before retiring and moving to Florida.
He enjoyed volunteering at the Ringling Museum and for the Baltimore Orioles in Sarasota, attending the annual Bloomsburg Fair, watching Penn State University sports, taking his annual baseball trip with friends, visiting local breweries and collecting Civil War memorabilia.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 19 years, Terry Cox; his son, Burt Carter (Julie) of Lakewood Ranch, FL; his stepdaughter, Jennifer Fisher (Eric) of Havre de Grace, MD.; 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. David was preceded in death by his son Brian Carter (Carol) and his brothers Burt Carter (Joan) and Carl Carter.
He was well loved and will be missed by many friends and family alike.
