Born in Gabelsville, she was a daughter of the late Alice (Youse) and Ammon Leister.
Nancy graduated from Boyertown High School with the Class of 1952. Nancy and Carl were married on March 29, 1952 and would have celebrated 67 years of marriage this coming March. She was a homemaker and bookkeeper for husband Carl’s masonry business. Nancy enjoyed being an Avon Representative for 30 years. She was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader for 10 years. Nancy was the financial secretary for the Liberty Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary for many years, and for 20 years, she served as a poll worker in Colebrookdale Township.
Nancy and Carl enjoyed traveling. Among their adventures were 7 cruises to Alaska, the Caribbean, and the Mediterranean/Africa, as well as visiting all 50 states. A highlight was driving 11,200 miles on the Alaska Highway.
She is survived by daughters, Teresa D., widow of Albert Steuer, and Debra A., wife of Richard Wanner, both of Alsace Township; and son, Gregory C., husband of Diane (Levengood) of Bechtelsville. Also surviving are her brothers, Charles, Barry, Daniel and Kerry Leister, and sisters, Vivian Kulp, Pauline Benfield, Dorothy Nuss and Betty Sweeney. She was predeceased by four brothers, Carl, Paul, Rodman and Dallas Leister. Nancy is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Jennifer Benfield, Michael Freed, and Rudy, Tyler, and Molly Kulp; and 7 great-grandchildren, Jacob, Taylor, and Joshua Krautzel, Braeden and Peyton Freed, Berkeley Kulp, and Kendall Kulp.
Over the years, Nancy and Carl enjoyed the companionship of their many beloved Bassett Hounds.
Funeral Services will be held at the Linwood W. Ott Funeral Home, Inc., 111 North Reading Ave., Boyertown, PA. 19512 on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at 1:00 PM.
Family and friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to a charitable organization of your choice.
Interment will be in Christ Union Cemetery in Niantic.
