unexpectedly on March 2, 2016, at the age of 43. Words cannot express how much she will
be missed by her family, friends, and colleagues.
Vibrant and creative, Carol pursued many passions including a deep love of the Spanish
language and culture, watercolor painting and other art, flamenco dancing, reading, and
hiking with her cherished Goldendoodle, Rubi. Carol’s entrepreneurial spirit enabled her to
turn many of these passions into profitable business ventures that she owned and operated,
including Pachacuti, LLC, a fair trade jewelry and gifts retail operation, and Carolina Miro
Translation and Interpreter Services, LLC. Her zest for all things Spanish also led her to such
destinations as Spain, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Peru, Bolivia, and Mexico, where she
enthusiastically immersed herself in the language and culture and cultivated many lifelong
friendships.
Carol was born on May 31, 1972, to Bonnie and Harvey Stengel. As a child, she loved the
outdoors and was involved in many activities such as swimming and tennis. Following her
graduation from Boyertown Area High School in 1990, she attended Millersville University
and graduated with a degree in Secondary Education - Spanish. She later went on to earn
her Master’s degree in Spanish from a rigorous program of foreign immersion travel through
the University of California in Sacramento.
Carol first utilized her extensive knowledge of the Spanish language and culture as a teacher,
both locally and overseas. She taught English as a foreign language in Valladolid, Spain, as
well as 9th through 12th graders in regular and AP Spanish classes for the Pennridge and
Upper Perkiomen School Districts. Carol also served as an adjunct professor at Lehigh
Carbon Community College where she planned and taught a “Spanish in the Workplace”
course.
Pre-deceased by her mother, Bonnie B. Stengel, Carol is survived by her father, Harvey G.
Stengel of Boyertown, her sister and brother-in-law, Traci M. and P. Joshua Bruton of
Pottstown, and her adored nephew and nieces, H. Jack, Bella Claire, and Maia Grace.
Carol’s life will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 15, 2016. Friends are invited to visit with
her family from 10 to 11 am at Linwood W. Ott Funeral Home, Inc., 111 North Reading Ave.
